If you want a funeral-like atmosphere while watching England vs Argentina in the World Cup semi-final, this is the place for you. The TVs had no sound at all — we were forced to watch in complete silence. The bar kept changing channels randomly, and the picture froze every couple of minutes. It was incredibly frustrating. All the English fans left very disappointed.What should have been an exciting, loud atmosphere felt more like attending a wake. Honestly, for an "English bar", the whole experience made me question whose side they were really on.

We came based on the BAD reviews! lol it opened at 12 and we played pool! We didn’t have money and they exchanged £2 from our card so we could play! The staff were lovely.

AGAIN we came back at 22:30 to watch the Germany Paraguay game thinking we might see some entertainment with the bad reviews! AGAIN IT WAS SUPERB!.

Will be back again Aperol Spritz served rapid and very tasty defo be back again.

If you glance through the negative reviews here, you’ll notice a couple of recurring themes; the no-dogs policy, and the bouncer. My experience firmly sits with the latter.

The bouncer is a small, bald man who seems to have confused the role with an opportunity to play the big man, selectively, of course. His confidence appeared to peak when dealing with women, and notably dipped the moment there was any real chance of being challenged.

On the night in question, his issue was with a group who briefly cheered. Not drunk, not aggressive; just enjoying themselves for a moment. They apologised immediately and kept things quiet thereafter. That should have been the end of it.

Instead, he instructed staff to stop serving them alcohol. Not because of behaviour, but seemingly because he could. The staff themselves were visibly confused, openly disagreed, and even laughed about the decision, which says everything.

What was more telling was what happened next. While the police were nearby, he was keen to be seen. Once they left, so did his presence. When customers calmly discussed the situation with staff, he didn’t return to explain or stand by his decision — he disappeared. It’s difficult not to conclude that the authority matters to him far more than the responsibility that comes with it.

It’s a shame, because the bar itself is otherwise a good spot. Unfortunately, one insecure overcompensating individual, managed to sour the entire experience. Judging by other reviews, this doesn’t seem to be a one-off.

Bar has been nice but the bouncer kicked out a group of people for celebrating a shot in pool. All the rest of the staff have been lovely anytime I’ve been in but this has turned me off the place
